Whenever we get together as a team to plan, to problem solve, and to make team or organizational decisions or recommendations, we hope to make the time as effective as possible. Joan Frye Williams presented an excellent Infopeople webinar on Value-Added Facilitation. Rather than focusing on the basics of leading meetings and discussions, she talked about how to prepare for the most effective use of time by asking the right questions and anticipating types of behavior that can help or hinder the dialogue. She stresses the importance of addressing conflict and building credibility. Ultimately, the goal is to achieve outcomes that meet the client expectations.
It is a recipe for success. Her presentation will be useful for anyone who will be facilitating a planning group, but will give any team member a better understanding of effective teamwork. The webinar is archived and viewable.
